Tintamarre Going for Four in a Row

Henk Steenkamp

Tintamarre will be attempting to make it four out of four at the Fairview Polytrack on Wednesday afternoon.

The son of Fire Away has been firing on all cylinders since arriving in the Eastern Cape earlier this year as a one-time winner from 13 starts.

“He is a really nice horse and enjoys the Poly,” trainer Dean Smith commented.

Tintamarre won three in a row on the Poly, the last victory carrying a hefty 61.5kgs over 1200m under jockey Calvin Habib.

This MR62 Handicap is over the same distance and Tintamarre will have to carry 61.5kgs. Habib retains the ride and the stable expects another big effort.

Tintamarre did pick up a five-point penalty for his latest win, but could be good enough to win again.

Halcyon from the Alan Greeff stable makes his Poly debut and looks the biggest danger to the favourite.

The son of Gimmethegreenlight ran on strongly over 1000m when making his debut for his new yard on the Fairview Turf track last month.

If he takes to the Poly, the Greeff stable sees Halcyon as a big runner. Take the box Exacta in race 6 numbers 1 & 7.

The meeting starts with the first race at 12:25 and there are some interesting and competitive races on the card.

The seventh race is a MR 96 Handicap over 1400m, which could provide the early Guy Fawkes fireworks. Eight runners, who all have a money chance, will contest this race.

As usual the meeting ends with an open affair, this time a Middle Stakes over 2000m.

It is one of those meetings where things can be very easy or very hard for punters – as always, let’s give it a go!
