The 2026 summer transfer window slams shut on Tuesday night, and some of Europe’s biggest clubs still have major business to complete before the deadline. Here are some of the biggest deals to watch on transfer deadline day.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Atlético Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and Manchester City’s move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez headline what could be a frantic few hours, while several other high-profile players could also be on the move.

Julian Alvarez To Arsenal

This could be the blockbuster deal of deadline day.

Arsenal have pursued Julian Alvarez throughout the summer as Mikel Arteta looks to add another elite attacker to his Premier League champions.

The Argentina international’s future at Atletico Madrid has become increasingly uncertain, and Arsenal remain interested in bringing the former Manchester City forward back to England.

The problem is the price and convincing the world cup winner to join them.

Atletico reportedly value Alvarez at around €150 million (£128 million), meaning Arsenal would have to commit to another enormous piece of business to get their man.

The Gunners have created room in their attack following the departures of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, leaving them with an intriguing decision to make.

Do they meet Atletico’s demands for one of world football’s leading forwards, or look elsewhere?

Lyon winger Malick Fofana has emerged as a possible alternative if an Alvarez deal proves impossible.

Whatever happens, Alvarez is one of the names to watch as the clock ticks down.

Enzo Fernandez To Manchester City

Another potentially seismic deal could see Enzo Fernandez swap Chelsea for Manchester City.

City have opened talks over the Argentina midfielder, who is reportedly agreed personal terms to move to the Etihad Stadium.

Fernandez’s absence from Chelsea’s recent matches has only intensified speculation surrounding his future.

New City boss Enzo Maresca knows the midfielder well from their time together at Stamford Bridge and is looking to reshape City’s midfield following a summer of significant change.

However, Fernandez won’t come cheaply.

A deal could reportedly cost over £120 million, which would surpass the club-record £116 million City paid for Elliot Anderson earlier this summer.

Should an agreement be reached, Fernandez would become one of the biggest deadline-day transfers in Premier League history.

Lamine Camara To Chelsea

Enzo Fernandez’s future could trigger another major move.

Chelsea are considering Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as a potential replacement should Fernandez complete his switch to Manchester City.

The Senegal international has developed into one of Europe’s highly regarded young midfielders and would fit Chelsea’s established strategy of investing heavily in players with significant long-term potential.

Reports suggest Chelsea have already made a sizeable offer for the Monaco star.

With so little time remaining, however, much may depend on how quickly the Fernandez situation develops.

Iliman Ndiaye To Manchester City

One of deadline day’s most surprising stories surrounds Iliman Ndiaye.

The Everton forward had appeared destined for Tottenham, with Spurs in advanced negotiations over a deal that could also have resulted in Richarlison returning to Goodison Park.

Manchester City have now complicated matters.

City have made a late move for Ndiaye, potentially hijacking Tottenham’s attempt to sign the Senegal international.

Everton have been prepared to consider a sale after Ndiaye rejected multiple contract offers, but the identity of his next club is suddenly far less certain.

It leaves Tottenham and City potentially battling for his signature with only hours remaining.

Jack Grealish To Everton

Jack Grealish could be heading back to familiar surroundings.

Everton are pushing to bring the England international back to Goodison Park on loan from Manchester City after his successful spell with the Toffees last season.

Grealish scored twice and supplied six assists in 20 Premier League appearances during that loan and is reportedly keen on returning to Everton.

Aston Villa have also shown interest in bringing their former captain home, but Grealish’s preference is believed to be another spell on Merseyside.

The structure of the deal remains complicated, particularly with the winger entering the final year of his City contract.

Still, this looks like one of the deadline-day moves worth keeping a close eye on.

Joshua Zirkzee To Juventus

Joshua Zirkzee could be heading back to Serie A.

Juventus are interested in signing the Manchester United forward, whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

United would ideally prefer a permanent transfer, or at least a loan containing an obligation to buy.

The complication is that Juventus may first need to move Jonathan David on, with Atletico Madrid linked with the Canadian striker.

Zirkzee already knows Italian football well following spells with Parma and Bologna before his move to Manchester United.

Should the dominoes fall into place, a return to Italy could materialise before the deadline.

Matias Fernandez-Pardo To Newcastle

Newcastle could also make a late addition to their attack.

The Magpies have a longstanding interest in Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo and remain in the market for another forward.

The 21-year-old Belgian international offers versatility across the frontline and fits the profile of young players Newcastle have targeted during the summer.

There have also been intriguing developments in France.

Fernandez-Pardo was left out of Lille’s squad for their weekend meeting with Paris Saint-Germain and has reportedly been excluded from training until the transfer window closes.

That doesn’t guarantee a move, but it ensures his future will be one to follow during the final hours.

Who Will Make The Deadline-Day Splash?

All eyes will inevitably be on Alvarez and Fernandez.

Either transfer would represent an enormous statement.

Arsenal adding Alvarez to their title-winning squad would strengthen an already formidable attacking unit, while Fernandez joining Manchester City would reshape the midfield of one of their biggest domestic rivals.

And the two sagas could have knock-on effects.

If Fernandez leaves Chelsea, the Blues may accelerate their pursuit of a replacement. City’s late interest in Ndiaye could alter Tottenham’s plans. Player departures at United and elsewhere could similarly trigger last-minute arrivals.
