Big fields and handicap racing is the order of the day for the race meeting at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday
Trainer Glen Kotzen has got filly Spirit Of Levana to win twice in just her six starts so far and from a very good draw she should run very well in Race 6, a B Stakes over 1800m.
The Fire Away filly had blinkers on when an improved third-place finisher behind Ice Rain at Scottsville in February.
The blinkers have been removed and the step up in distance is sure to suit her as she won a 1600m race as a two-year-old and is older and stronger now.
She will be taking on the boys but based on her current form she should be able to handle the opposition. She does come in as the best weighted runner by at least 2kg.
Kotzen is very fond of using Gavin Lerena whenever he can get him and the Joburg-based jockey will be aboard this filly.
He has ridden her twice, the first time last year in the Grade 1 Thekwini Stakes for juvenile fillies over 1600m where she finished fifth behind star filly Quid Pro Quo.
Lerena was also up last time when just 1.70 lengths behind Ice Rain and it may have been on his advice that encouraged Kotzen to remove the blinkers.
