A Pair of Hat Tricks

Henk Steenkamp

A pair of hat-tricks could be on the cards for champion trainer Alan Greeff at Monday’s Fairview Polytrack meeting.

Mr Fox (race 6) and Mercantour (race 7) look all set to win again with Richard Fourie in the saddle.

After winning his last two starts very easily it will be a tougher task this time for Mr Fox in a MR Handicap over 2000m.

The stable gives him a definite winning chance.

“Mr Fox is drawn nicely and has been working well,” Greeff commented. He certainly looks up to the task.

Slainte Mhath (Sharon Kotzen) is the danger to include if you look past Mr Fox as a banker.

Mercantour won two in a row on the poly and is the best weighted horse in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1400m.

He is drawn widest of all which won’t make things easy for Fourie.

Fourie knows him well though and with Mercantour’s impressive good turn of foot the hat-trick is certainly on the cards.

“He has done very well. I think he is the horse to beat in this race,” Greeff commented.

The meeting starts at 12:30 with the first of the eight races.
