Orlando Pirates has officially announced that head coach Jose Riveiro will step down from his position at the end of the current season. The Spanish tactician informed the club’s management of his decision not to renew his contract, which is set to expire upon the season’s conclusion.

Riveiro’s tenure with the Buccaneers began in 2022, marking a period of notable achievements and challenges. Under his guidance, the team secured significant victories and demonstrated commendable performances in domestic competitions. Reflecting on his impending departure, Riveiro expressed a desire to maintain focus on the remaining fixtures, emphasising the importance of concluding the season on a high note.
Club Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza acknowledged Riveiro’s contributions, stating, “While we would have liked José to extend his stay with us, at the same time, we fully respect his decision. We are grateful for everything he has done for the Club.” He further highlighted the club’s commitment to supporting Riveiro’s decision and ensuring a seamless transition.
As the search for Riveiro’s successor begins, the club remains focused on its ongoing campaigns, including crucial fixtures in the CAF Champions League and domestic league.
