Hugo Broos has named South Africa’s final squad for AFCON 2025/26 in Morocco, scheduled from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. The announcement comes a week after the Belgian coach revealed an expanded provisional list, cutting that group down to a tournament-ready 23.

Bafana Bafana kick off their campaign in Group B alongside Angola, Zimbabwe and Egypt. Their opening match is set for 22 December at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, where they take on Angola in what shapes up to be a crucial early Test.
South Africa then face Egypt on 16 December at Adrar Stadium, before rounding out the group stage against Zimbabwe on 29 December, returning to Marrakech for the series finale of the pool.
Bafana carry renewed belief after securing bronze in the 2024 edition in the Ivory Coast, their best finish in several tournaments. This time, the target is clear: progress deep into the knockouts and challenge for a place in the final.
One notable omission from the final squad is Kaizer Chiefs, who featured multiple names on the provisional list, including Mduduzi Shabalala and Brandon Petersen, but ultimately have no representatives heading to Morocco.
Broos has also leaned into fresh attacking and utility options, with selections like Shandre Campbell, Tylon Smith and Elias Mokwana making the final cut, adding a layer of pace, versatility and unpredictability to this Bafana group.
