After finishing third and fourth respectively during the regular season, the Stormers and Bulls made full use of home advantage in the quarter-finals, dispatching Cardiff and Munster to move within two wins of URC glory.
Stormers Overpower Cardiff in Cape Town
The Stormers were made to work hard by a spirited Cardiff side before eventually pulling away for a convincing 44-21 victory at DHL Stadium.
Despite enjoying territorial dominance for much of the contest, the Cape Town outfit found themselves under pressure when Cardiff cut the deficit to just five points midway through the second half. However, the Stormers’ superior scrum, lineout and maul proved decisive as they scored 18 unanswered points in the final quarter to seal their passage to the last four.
Andre-Hugo Venter, Ntuthuko Mchunu, Leolin Zas, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Paul de Villiers and JJ Kotze all crossed the whitewash as the Stormers finished with six tries in front of a packed home crowd.
The only concern for John Dobson’s side was an injury to star playmaker Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who appeared to hurt his knee while scoring his try in the second half.
Bulls Crush Munster at Loftus
Earlier in Pretoria, the Bulls delivered arguably their most complete performance of the season, dismantling Munster 45-14 at Loftus Versfeld.
The hosts exploded out of the blocks, racing into a two-try lead inside the opening 10 minutes and taking a commanding 31-14 advantage into the half-time break. Munster briefly threatened a response, but the Bulls’ physical dominance at scrum time and clinical attacking execution ensured there would be no comeback.
Scrumhalf Embrose Papier starred with two tries, while the Bulls repeatedly won the gain-line battle and dominated the set-piece exchanges. The six-try performance extended their winning streak in the competition and secured a fourth consecutive URC semi-final appearance.

South African Hopes Remain Alive
The results mean two South African teams remain in the hunt for the URC title heading into the semi-finals.
The Bulls will travel to Scotland to face defending champions Glasgow Warriors after Glasgow advanced from their quarter-final, while the Stormers are set for a heavyweight showdown with Leinster.
With both teams producing some of their best rugby of the season at exactly the right time, South African supporters can dare to dream of another all-South African URC final. The prospect of a Stormers-Bulls decider, a repeat of the inaugural 2022 final, remains very much alive as the race for the championship enters its decisive stage.
